Catherine Asaro (natural 1955) is an American science fiction and fantasy author. She is better known for her books just about a Ruby Dynasty set in the Skolian Empire. Her novel The Quantum Rose was the winner of the 2001 Nebula Award for Best Novel.

She was natural inside Oakland, California. She has the B.S. in chemistry from UCLA and an M.A. in physics and a Ph.D. in chemical physics from Harvard University. When at Harvard, she likewise founded the student ballet organization; she still teaches ballet within Maryland. Inside 1990, she established a science-fiction magazine Molecudyne The food and drug administration.

She is married to John Kendall Cannizzo, an astrophysicist at NASA. It own the single girl, a ballet dancer & mathematician.
